Secondary Pathways
With exam blocks, university visits and pathway planning underway, our students are demonstrating the College’s Foundations of Question, Courage, Improve and Faith as they prepare to finish the year well.
Over the past few weeks, students in Years 9 to 11 have been exploring their future pathways in a variety of ways — including StudySmart sessions, work experience and engaging opportunities with the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC). These initiatives have provided valuable insight into the many ways they can pursue their God-given passions.
Student advisors from UniSC have reinforced that students are no longer constrained by ATARs and that there are multiple pathways into tertiary study — including selection ranks, certificate courses and the Tertiary Preparation Pathway. Students have also discovered the benefits of the UniSC HeadStart program, which enables them to complete university subjects while still at school. It has been wonderful to see their curiosity, confidence and sense of purpose grow as they begin to imagine what’s next.
At Caloundra Christian College, students are encouraged and supported to pursue their chosen pathways — academic, vocational or trade-based — each equally valuable and full of opportunity. Our pathway messages connect deeply with the College Foundations for Life and Learning, particularly the Foundations of Question, Courage and Improve.
We learn to question so that we can question to learn — whether that means asking insightful questions about study options or exploring how God is shaping our next steps. We demonstrate courage when we step outside our comfort zones, such as tackling new challenges, preparing for exams or embracing opportunities like the HeadStart program. And we improve by failing forward — learning from experience and growing through perseverance and reflection.]
Ultimately, all our learning and striving are underpinned by our faith in God. We are reminded that each student is created in His image — uniquely gifted and purposefully designed. As Psalm 139:14 declares: 'I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.'
As our Year 11 students begin their first block exams and our Year 12 cohort enters their final external examinations, we pray they approach this time with focus, peace and confidence — trusting in God’s good and perfect plan for their future.
Blessings,
